The countries where the clone is grown are Spain, France, Italy and Romania.

The poplar clone AF8, already registered in the list of MSA (Greater Environmental Sustainability) clones, can benefit from the contribution ceiling provided for by PSR measure 8.1 "Forestry and Afforestation".

Given the excellent growth characteristics of this clone, which reaches harvestable dimensions between 7 and 8 years, combined with resistance to major diseases and wind, as well as good technological characteristics of the wood, the poplar grower can benefit from the best that advanced genetics made available to the sector.

Serious wind damage suffered by clone I-214 in the summer of 2017 in the province of Pordenone in a comparative plantation with clone AF8. The poplar grower for a cycle between 8 and 10 years must continuously make annual investments to ensure good maintenance of the plantation. Strong winds may occur in this time period. The investment must be safe by choosing the cultivar that best suits the areas most subject to strong winds to avoid significant financial losses.
